I will buy a driver quality 50,000 mile manual Delorean for sub $15,000, put it on some tasteful black aftermarket rims and DD it. Shouldn't be too bad right?

YES, but engine swap it. Those DMC engines ran like crap

Do they make engine swap kits? I wouldn't be tuning the engine for any more power but I would probably try to make it reliable

weren't they actually like Oldsmobile V6's? that were already outdated before the Delorean made it to production.

Jalop: Yes
Smart: No

Im pretty sure they do, I know it is common to swap out the stock engine in deloreans

$15000? Where are you going to get one for that price?

I have a boring and un-killable 2000 Blazer that will work if I need to be smart

But its the electronic injection thats screwy, I think they used a similar unit to the one in the cimarron

Go check ebay. You can get a decent one for between $15,000 and $30,000

Peugeot, Renault, and Volvo had a hand in designing it.

Finding a reliable one for less than 15k will be.... interesting. But then again, there is a warehouse full of new parts, and that company has performance upgrades for the PRV.

Oh. That's a lot cheaper than I thought. I was under the impression that they were way higher priced.

No, they haven't really hit the appreciation curve full on yet

Why not go for something like this?

I have to say, you make my wanting a Datsun 240z seem a bit more unimpressive. I wish you the best of luck!

Because electric doors. If a battery goes out, you're screwed. It's also missing the fit and finish of an actual car (it's more or less a kit, let's be honest here)

Apparently LSX swaps are fairly common for DeLoreans. Someone has even swapped in a Mazda 20B in one as well. No idea if there's a standardized kit for doing the former, though.

Ah yeah the electric doors. I am sure there has to be a conversion kit. For a kit, that one looks pretty nice. You can get into a driver for less than than 10k and finish it up yourself.

There are some kits to convert to struts, I researched them a long time ago.

Get yourself a decent tow rig. You'll need it.

I know a guy who had a Delorean. He says the second happiest he's ever been was when he bought it. The happiest he's ever been was when he got rid of it.
I know another guy who owned a Delorean. I told him I was thinking about getting one. He said it would make a great anchor for my boat.
Both true things said by real people.

That said, yeah, it would be awesome.

Didnt someone do a 5.0 swap in one as well?

You'll probably want more power. They are woefully underpowered. Also, a new suspension kit, since the one it has is softer than John Delorean's coke dick.
Otherwise, gopher it, they're awesome cars.

YEAH! This is built in New-Brunswick Canada and thats where I'm from. I always loved bricklands.

The PRV wasn't really outdated at the time, it was just as underwhelming as anything in that era - ~130bhp from a V6 was par for the course. Just everyone else had a V8 option.
